Hawai’i was named the number one city in America for ‘Quality of Life,’ citing The Economist's recent publication of its “Pocket World in Figures, 2008 Edition”.

The book is based on a 2006 Human Development Report that looks beyond GDP to a broader definition of well-being by providing a composite measure of three dimensions of human development: life expectancy, adult literacy and income.

The annual bestseller “Pocket World in Figures,” rates 182 countries on subject such as geography, population, business, the economy, trade, transportation, finance, industry, demographics, the environment, society, culture and crime.
