Internship Program

The Internship and Career Development Office at the Shidler College of Business provides an excellent avenue for employers to gain access to the best and the brightest of Hawaii’s young professionals.

The Shidler College of Business Internship Program provides both undergraduate and graduate students with opportunities to gain practical work experience. Students intern with sponsor companies for 150 hours per semester (15 hours per week).

The internship experience is counted as academic credit. Internships may be either paid or unpaid, as determined by the employer. Once registered, a sponsor company can post their internships in our exclusive online database accessible to Shidler College of Business students. Companies can select from a talented pool of interns.

“Our Shidler Intern did not look at challenges as a roadblock. He approached them with a positive outlook, and finds ways to overcome them. He also asked for constant feedback to make sure he was on track.”

“Our Shidler Intern performed a good overall review of the Japanese department store companies and stocks, and fairly comprehensive industry analysis is the basis for any good equity investment professional. She also performed one-off analysis of companies in other industries, particularly some hard-to-value internet companies, so she demonstrated versatility in research ability.”

“Our Shidler Intern gets an “A”. Specifically, he performed very well when he was asked to take-over the sales management reporting activities. This involved validating, generating, proofing and disseminating key sales reports for Business Banking that impacted incentive compensation payments and Chairman’s Circle corporate-wide sales performance recognition. He also quickly picked up the score-plus underwriting process and activities. This is a core position function as a financial analyst. He suggested then implemented improvements to the excel worksheet tools used by BLAD to include maximum sensitivity scenario calculations.”
