Artificial intelligence is discussed daily in the media, but what does the term really mean? More importantly, how will artificial intelligence impact Hawai‘i? Hawai‘i‘s primary industries of tourism, real estate, healthcare, and defense will be impacted differently. Are there also opportunities for new economic development to benefit Hawai‘i’s citizens? While AI presents unprecedented opportunities, it also comes with its share of challenges. The spread of disinformation, the ethical dilemmas surrounding AI deployment, and abuse of AI for malicious cyber actions all need to be thought of and mitigated.
