DTRIC Insurance Company is seeking an IT Data Analyst who will work with DTRIC’s insurance data from multiple sources (e.g. policy, claims and billing systems) to coordinate the overall resources and processes for data analysis and administration to meet customer requirements and fulfill the information needs of the Company. Assists with research and development of database products and services, data analytics, business intelligence, data warehouse, internal & external reporting. As required, performs special data projects and reports for customers. Develops customized views from databases and collects data according to support corporate decision making at the strategic, tactical and operations levels.
Essential Functions:
1. Understand, interpret, and analyze data using current tools and techniques to provide ongoing reports.
2. Work with databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other tools to optimize data efficiency and quality.
3. Acquire and extract data from multiple data sources to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
4. Verify and validate data and ETL processes to reconcile information within the data to ensure completeness and accuracy.
5. Understand insurance data to present and explain information in an accessible way.
6. Delve into data to discover discrepancies and patterns, and plans, develops, and/or executes the necessary steps to correct/improve data.
7. Creates reports for senior/executive management that will highlight unit performance.
8. Performs queries of respective data and explains developing trends that may be of interest to the business unit or product manager.
9. Provides information on an ad hoc basis as necessary.
10. Gather and compile data, eliminate or reduce redundancy, maintain data integrity, improve data quality and availability.
11. Investigates new data acquisition and dissemination methods to maximize access to and use of corporate data.
12. Provide excellent customer support for DTRIC employees while demonstrating the organization’s values.
13. Maintain systems documentation and updates as changes occur.
14. In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
Skills:
1. Proficiency in data analysis, modeling, and research methods.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in spreadsheet and database applications.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both verbal and written communication with the ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with external contractors, system integrators, outsourced development teams, and offshore support.
5. Strong documentation (inline and offline) skills.
6. Organization and conceptual skills to handle multiple projects and programs.
7. Demonstrated ability and self-motivation to learn new tools and products independently.
8. Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
Knowledge:
1. Technical expertise regarding data models, data mining, and analytics.
2. General understanding of Databases, Datamarts, and Data Warehouses.
3. Knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (such as Power BI, Business Objects, Crystal Reports, and others)
4. Strong comprehension to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Fluency in developing queries, report writing and presenting findings.
6. Working knowledge of the insurance business, workflows, principles and practices.
7. Working knowledge of company work procedures and data flows to effectively implement and maintain corporate data models and databases.
8. Thorough knowledge of the principles of information and office technology management normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
Education/Experience:
1. Degree with a concentration in Information Technology preferred.
2. Minimum of 2 years of analytical and development experience in simple to complex reporting applications required.
3. Minimum 1 year of work experience in data analysis, data reporting, and data validation preferred.
4. Minimum of 2 years experience preferred working with tiered data designs and/or data warehouse experience in a computing environment using the tools and/or techniques employed or that will be employed at DTRIC.
5. Minimum of 2 years experience working with and interfacing COTS and customer-developed application data preferred.
