Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

Summary
The Information Technology Analyst will participate with teams of the Department of Information Technology in activities including development, project implementation, data-mining, operations and maintenance of Clinical Laboratories of Hawaii (CLH) information systems. The Information Technology Analyst (ITA) will provide support to CLH systems by troubleshooting, maintaining, monitoring, modifying and documenting updates to system software and processes.  The ITA will also work extensively with internal and external customers (business partners and vendors) and maintain open lines of communication to provide quality customer service to ensure high satisfaction IT services.  The ITA will also be involved in the IT business process and will participate in build sessions, provide input regarding vendor-proposed hardware and software additions and changes; and to perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Successfully passes company drug testing program pre-hire and thereafter on a periodic and or random basis

  • Bachelor's Degree in biological, laboratory or computer sciences or equivalent IT certification(s).
  • One year experience in IT related areas preferable

Essential Functions

  • Under direct supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position:
  • Works under the supervision and direction of the Lead IT Support Technician and accordance with Company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Provides immediate response to technical questions and problems related hardware, network, and application related issues.
  • Maintains technical knowledge by reading publications and attending continuing education courses.
  • Maintains the equipment and devices used by the systems to the satisfaction of the clients.
  • Follows up on all problems associated with the output and prints to the clients.
  • Performs operation maintenance on the mission critical systems (i.e., backup, cleaning, etc.).
  • Knowledge of desktops, servers, printers, terminal servers, Xerox Document Management, Telecommunication, telecommunications systems, fax servers, and network devices and ability to identify problems and fixes.
  • Maintain hardware, software inventory and accurate documentation.
  • Assists in training users on proper operation of equipment and use of basic systems functions.
  • Document request and incident in IT ticketing and tracking system
  • Adheres to safety, confidentiality, compliance, and legal requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Ensures that all development and/or corrective software (version upgrades, software patches, instrument or system interfaces, and installed devices, etc.) has been fully tested, documented and meet required compliance needs.

Maintains awareness of CLH business needs and impact of IT projects on the business and participates in process sessions and information gathering for business cases, technical specifications, training plans and project roll outs.

 

Physical Capabilities
Light to moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 lbs.)

Working Environment

  • Work is performed primarily remote (after in office training for 6 months) with once a week in office required (WEDNESDAYS).
  • Occasional travel (including off island) to various worksites (hospital labs, patient service centers, etc.) may also be required, depending on assignment.
  • Frequent exposure to video display terminals.
  • Occasional contact with water (hand washing and cleaning), bio-hazardous body fluids, and occasional hazardous chemicals.
  • Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction.
  • Maybe asked to work extended hours.
  • Handling of emergency or crisis situations.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required at Entry: 
  • Knowledge of standard business applications (ie. Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software operations and capabilities.
  • Knowledge of computer application troubleshooting.
  • Ability to detect, analyze and resolve computer software and network problems.
  • Ability to interact with users, and provide clear and useful instruction and training; or obtain necessary information to correct production problems on a timely basis.
  • Ability to identify and monitor potential operational malfunctions.
  • Ability to correctly install and maintain computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
