An internship to remember 

For Kelli Chinen, a finance and international business student studying at Shidler College, her college internship was not only thousands of miles from home but it was also during a pandemic that could have derailed her plans to learn about finance abroad.Chinen left for her internship in January 2020 and with the help of alumnus Wee Loke Tang, BBA ’73, Hall of Honor ’18, who is the independent non-executive director of UOB Kay Hian, a global investment bank headquartered in Singapore, Chinen was able to stay until the end of her internship in July. 

FIN 490D Financial Analysis (3)

This course follows closely with CFA Candidate Program Level I Study. Covers topics such as ethics, quantitative methods, financial statement analysis, corporate finance, bond and equity investments, and portfolio management.

FIN 490E Retirement & Employee Benefits Planning (3)

This course is one of the seven required courses for the CFP® certification exam. The course introduces you to retirement and employee benefit planning for businesses and individuals based on the learning objectives specified by the CFP Board of Standards. We will focus on the practical knowledge needed to choose the best retirement plan and designing a plan that will meet the needs of the client from a tax and employee benefit standpoint. Other related topics covered include social security and Medicare, and business succession planning.

Dr. Jing Ai, Professor of Finance, First Insurance Company Distinguished Professor, Faculty Advisor, FMA and Insurance & Risk Management Track at the Shidler College of Business, was interviewed for WalletHub's 2019 car insurance study. Ai shared her expert opinion on the pros and cons of cheap car insurance.
