The Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaii at Manoa has long held information technology in organizations as one of its strategic thrusts. The Information Technology Management (ITM) Department spearheads this area through undergraduate and graduate programs, preparing students to thrive in the digital economy. Through basic and applied research, the department creates and disseminates knowledge of the design, development, and management of information technology.
The department offers an undergraduate major in Management of Information Systems, an elective in Information Systems at the MBA level, a concentration in the PhD in Business Administration program, and an interdisciplinary PhD in Communication and Information Systems. In addition, the department offers seminars and non-credit executive programs for the business community.
The department is consistently ranked among the top departments of information systems nationally for its research. Faculty members in the department specialize in the areas of decisions sciences, organizational impacts of technology, systems development, database management, health information technology management, neural informations systems, e-commerce and social media, and crisis management systems.
