Teaching 

Dr. Seo served as a Department Chairperson (three terms), Director of the Pacific International Management Studies, and Director of Research and Development at the Shidler College of Business.  He was appointed as a Senior Fellow at the East - West Center and the Faculty Director for the Asian Field Study Program for 25 years.  In the spring of 1998, he was appointed as a Fulbright Scholar in Korea.  He has been invited as a guest lecturer at Beijing University, Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Columbia University, Hanoi University, Korea University, NHK Lecture Series, Universidad Gabriela Mistral (Chile), Universidad de San Andres (Argentina), and others.

Selected Publications

He is the author or co-author of six books and over 50 articles and monographs in the fields of business/financial economics which appeared in such journals as Annals of Regional Science, Economic Development and Cultural Change, Engineering Economics, Industrial Engineering, International Journal of Social Economics, Management Studies, Policy Sciences, Simulation, and others.  His Managerial Economics text, Problems and Short Cases (8th edition), published by Richard Irwin, Inc. and translated into more than six languages, has been adopted by over 200 universities such as Columbia, Duke, Harvard, McGill, North Carolina, NYU, UCLA, Vanderbilt, St Petersburg University (Russia), and others.  He authored The Steel King: the Story of POSCO/T.J. Park by Simon Schuster (1997).  He served as editorial advisors and referees for a number of professional journals.

Professional Background 

Dr. Seo has been a consultant and advisor for many domestic and international businesses: All American Fisheries Inc., Asian Productivity Organization, Bank of America, Texas Bank and Trust, National Environmental Corporation, Fujitsu Co., Hilton International, U.S. - Korea Business Council, Pohang Steel Corporation (POSCO), Boeing Co., and many branches of state and federal agencies. 

For the last twenty years, Dr. Seo traveled frequently to various Asian countries including China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Vietnam for his research, consulting, and speaking engagements.  He also traveled extensively in South American countries for his research and teaching.
