Chris Tatum - Marriott International
Headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, Chris Tatum is vice president for Marriott International with responsibility for the portfolio of resort hotels in the Hawaiian islands. He has a dual role as the market general manager for the 1,310-room Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
He has enjoyed a successful career with Marriott, starting in 1981 when he helped open the Maui Marriott Resort & Ocean Club at Kaʻanapali. He steadily rose through the ranks of leadership positions with Marriott in the Mainland United States, Asia, and Australia. His Marriott executive positions included area vice president of Hawaiʻi, Pacific Northwest, Northern California, and Utah as well as area vice president of North Asia, Hawaiʻi, and South Pacific.
Since returning to Hawaiʻi in 2001, Chris had been general manager of the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort on Maui, JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina, and Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa.
Chris has contributed to the tourism industry in many ways beyond his job at Marriott. He is past chairman of the Hawaiʻi Lodging & Tourism Association and the Visitor Industry Charity Walk. He has also served on the board of the Hawaiʻi Visitors and Convention Bureau and was chairman of the Oʻahu Visitors Bureau. He was also a member of the 2011 APEC Hawaiʻi Host Committee.
Chris received his Bachelor of Arts degree in hotel and restaurant management from Michigan State University. He grew up in Hawaii where he graduated from Radford High School and made a name for himself as a member of the Ram’s winning varsity baseball team.
During his time off, he enjoys golfing and spending time with his wife, Peg, and their two children.
