Michael Robinson (MBA 2014)

Michael Robinson (MBA 2014) was one of 50 outstanding individuals from across the U.S. who were presented with the American Hospital Association's 2017 Grassroots Champion Award. Robinson, who serves as vice president of government relations and community affairs for Hawai‘i Pacific Health (HPH), was recognized for his exceptional leadership in generating grassroots and community activity in support of a hospital’s mission.

In addition to his role at HPH, Robinson is engaged with a number of organizations who share a common mission of creating a healthier Hawai‘i. He currently serves on the boards of the Hawai‘i Public Health Institute (Vice Chair), Bike Share Hawai’I and March of Dimes- Hawai‘i Chapter (Chair, Public Affairs Committee). He also serves as chair of the Health Care Association of Hawai’i’s Government Relations Committee, co-chair of the Honolulu Chamber of Commerce’s Workplace Environment & Competitiveness Committee, American Diabetes Association Legislative Advisory Committee, Transform Hawai‘i Government, and the Children’s Hospital Association Government Relations Committee in Washington D.C.

Robinson is a graduate of Maryknoll High School. He earned his bachelor's degree from Cornell University in economics and government, and holds an MA in economics and an MBA from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa.

The American Hospital Association's Grassroots Champion Award recognizes outstanding hospital leaders who most effectively educate elected officials on how major issues affect the hospital’s vital role in the community, who have done an exemplary job in broadening the base of community support for the hospital and who are tireless advocates for hospitals and their patients.
