A Legacy of Excellence in Hawai'i's HR Community
Program Overview
In today’s highly competitive business environment, the roles and responsibilities of human resource professionals have become increasingly critical to corporate success. Human Resource Management (HRM) professionals must understand human resource issues and management trends in a competitive global economy, as well as a broad spectrum of state and federal employment legislation.
The Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM) is a one-year, non-thesis graduate program (30 credits) designed to equip students with advanced expertise in human capital strategy, organizational effectiveness, workforce analytics, and leadership. Tailored for aspiring Shidler students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals, the MHRM program prepares students for high-impact roles in HR management. Known for its tradition of excellence, the MHRM program is deeply rooted in Hawai‘i’s professional landscape, supported by a strong and active alumni network.

Two Pathways for MHRM
Internal 4+1 Pathway: For current Shidler BBA students in Human Resource Management or Management
Shidler undergraduate students majoring in Human Resource Management or Management may apply to the MHRM program during their junior or early senior year. If accepted, they may take up to one 400-level and two 600-level HRM courses while completing their undergraduate degree (at a lower undergraduate tuition rate). These courses will double count toward both their BBA and MHRM degrees. As a result, during their +1 year (i.e., 5th year at Shidler), they will need to complete only 21 additional credits to earn the MHRM degree (instead of the full 30).
External MHRM Pathway: For applicants outside of Shidler
Applicants who are not part of the Shidler undergraduate program in Human Resource Management or Management will follow the standard MHRM pathway and complete the full 30 credit hours of graduate-level coursework.
For admission guidelines and information, see the webpage on How to Apply.
*The redesigned semester-based MHRM program is currently under review by the Office of the Provost and is expected to launch in Fall 2026, pending final approval.
