Freeman Scholars

The Freeman Foundation was established in 1994 through a bequest and in memory of the businessman and benefactor Mansfield Freeman, a former director of AIG. The foundation is dedicated to strengthening the bonds of friendship between the U.S. and the countries of the Far East. The Shidler College of Business is grateful to have the Freeman Foundation as a partner in offering travel scholarships to deserving undergraduate students interested in studying abroad to Asia.

The Freemans have put millions into scholarships to help American students understand Asia and its people and cultures. The foundation also supports numerous Asian studies programs at the University of Hawai'i and donated funds to the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council that supported study tours to Asia for high school students.
