DOUG JOHNSTONE is president of The Howard Hughes Corporation’s Hawai‘i region and oversees asset management, financing redevelopment initiatives. He has led the growth of the 60-acre master-planned community of Ward Village, an award-winning neighborhood which will introduce nearly one million square feet of dynamic retail experiences and thousands of new homes to the heart of Honolulu. Previously, Johnstone managed value-add redevelopment efforts within the commercial real estate portfolio of Kamehameha Schools. He also served as vice president of Cyburt Hall Partners, a boutique Los Angeles firm, focused on opportunistic investments and developments with institutional joint venture partners. Born and raised in Honolulu, Johnstone attended Punahou School and Stanford University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in economics with honors. Through his career, he has spearheaded more than $4.5 billion of real estate investment activity.

Elaine and Eddie Flores

Eddie Flores, Jr. has distinguished himself as a successful entrepreneur, educator, philanthropist, and community leader. He is president and CEO of L&L Drive-Inn/L&L Hawaiian Barbecue and founder of the Eddie Flores Real Estate School and Sun Pacific Realty. In 2007, Eddie and his wife Elaine established a $2 million endowed scholarship at the college which has provided over 220 scholarships to top business students. Eddie helped to establish the Filipino Community Center and Chinatown Community Center and authored articles and books on real estate and investment. His accomplishments led him to win over 20 local and national awards. A 1970 graduate of the Shidler College of Business, Eddie was inducted into the college’s Hall of Honor in 2005 and was honored as a UHAA Distinguished Alumni in 1999. Established in 2017, the annual Flores Real Estate Lecture Series is a testament to Eddie’s passion for real estate.
