Global Connections Program introduces high school students to the importance of international business and foreign language skills
French language students from Moanalua High School's World Language Learning Center spent a day at UH Manoa exploring international business, foreign language and study abroad opportunities.

The International Business Organization (IBO) at the Shidler College of Business has launched an exciting new program that fosters early awareness in high school students about careers in international business, the importance of foreign language skills, and the connections within today's ever-expanding globalized world.

On October 30, IBO's new Global Connections Program hosted its first event welcoming 31 French-language students from Moanalua High School's World Language Learning Center to the UH Manoa campus.  The students spent the day attending special classes on business, culture and foreign language led by UH professors, and participating in a campus tour conducted in French which helped introduce students to the array of resources available to those interested in international studies.

The Manoa campus visit was the first of three sessions that IBO has planned for its Global Connections Program. Next semester, IBO members and Shidler student volunteers will be visiting Moanalua High School where they will share their study abroad experiences and lead fun activities geared to foster greater enthusiasm for foreign language skills and an interest in international business. The program will culminate with a third and final session that will consist of site visits to international companies.
